Starr Privacy Policy

Overview

Starr is a private AI assistant that runs entirely on your device. We built Starr with a simple philosophy: your conversations are yours alone.

On-Device Processing

All AI processing happens locally on your iPhone using Apple's machine learning framework. Your conversations, questions, and responses are generated on your device and never transmitted to any server.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data. Specifically:

• No conversation data is collected or transmitted
• No usage analytics or tracking
• No advertising identifiers
• No location data
• No contact information
• No cookies or web tracking

Data Storage

Your conversations are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data:

• Lives only on your device
• Is protected by your device's passcode and encryption
• Can be deleted at any time from Settings within the app
• Is removed when you delete the app

Model Downloads

Starr downloads an AI model from Hugging Face (a public model repository) during first launch. This is the only network request the app makes. The download is a one-time transfer of the AI model files — no personal data is sent during this process.

Apple Watch

If you use Starr on Apple Watch, your questions are sent to the Starr app on your paired iPhone for processing via Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This communication happens directly between your devices over Bluetooth or local Wi-Fi — it never passes through any external server.

Third-Party Services

Starr does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services.

Children's Privacy

Starr does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
